When was the last time you dived somewhere most others will never get to experience for a first time?? Andaman Islands should be on your "MUST DIVE" bucket list freedom-divers.com
Episode #2 of our Underwater Video Blog Series: Highlights from our inaugural trip to the India's Andaman & Nicobar Islands really was a once in a lifetime experience for both ourselves and the clients. It took us a few dives to really learn the (underwater) layout of the land (reefs), which were extremely diverse, ranging from plateaus, pinnacles, ledges on the precipice of an 800m drop-off, an Active Volcano, and even a critter site!
There was definitely a recurring theme of Big Fish encounters & huge schools, which included a Whale Shark, a Pod of Dolphins, Manta Rays, a Tornado of Big Eye Jacks and Chevron Barracudas, as well as huge schools of Humpback Snapper & Sombre Sweetlips,Humphead Parrotfish, a Swimming Elephant (really!!), and a surprise encounter with a very rare Dugong during our final week.
There was of course the Andaman Sea's signature fantastic Macro ever present on the dives: Comet Longfin, Pipefish, a plethora of Nudi Branchs, Pygmy Pipehorse, an Electric File Clam, stunning Basslets, notably Candy Basslets & Mirror Basslets (normally only found deeper than +60 meters, but here in less than 20 meters!?!), and a SUPER FIND of a Halimeda Ghost Pipefish.
As we said, it's a "Must Dive", not forgetting in all of this that (for now at least), you are virtually guaranteed to be THE ONLY DIVE GROUP ON THE REEF!!!
