I recently read "Small Teaching" by James M Lang and learned a number of techniques for using retrieval practice in the classroom. Retrieval effect is when our learning is strengthened by trying to recall what we have learned from memory. Examples of the application of the retrieval effect include flash cards and pop quizzes. In this video, I offer a few more examples. I've also recently tested out Kahoot! and Jeopardy Labs as classroom tools for either in-person or Zoom classes and both are super fun ways to get your students remembering what you've taught them!
