The burning question regarding the series' future is the identity and intentions of Higan, who we basically have less than a single arcade mode's length of context for. Higan's identity is a mystery as he does not appear to be the Hollow God who appeared in Vatista's prologue but the drop of information regarding him being the reason why the Insulator disappeared for 500 years and potentially dropping it on Hyde does add another layer to the story that wasn't there before.
Excuse the rambling nature of this as there's only so many pieces of information to really present while there's a lot of potential things to consider.
