I admit, getting both of these guys joining up with Kuon was not in my bingo card for the new arcade set-up but it does make a lot of sense. Wald might have switched sides but he never really was going to let Kuon do what he intended while Enkidu was perfectly honest about wanting to fight Kuon before the Night's end.
I've said it before but Wald's a pretty interesting character given what he's been through and how he's involved with the two known Re-Births in the series. It's a shame his interactions aren't as explored as the other characters. Enkidu's character has not changed and that fits because his goals haven't necessarily changed much either, he simply moved on from Amnesia and joined up with the next source of trouble to find new fights.
In the first Hollow Night, Wald and Enkidu definitely had their duel which gives Enkidu an easy alibi of being preoccupied fighting Wald to assist Hilda any further. That leaves Gordeau prowling about pulling double shifts in hunting Wagner (to no obvious success) and keeping watch on Hilda so it's a wonder who he ended up fighting that night to give Hyde, Linne, and most likely Vat a clear avenue to fight Hilda. Maybe it was Yuzu or even Carmine. Chaos though, he might not have even participated.
According to game's intro blurbs, Wald and Enkidu joined Kuon when the latter revealed himself restored to his regular form, which was the same time he announced the Final Night will occur in a month's time. Evidently, Amnesia was in attendance and a handful of other cast members were too. That must have been the same time Kuon put Hilda in her place after she spent a month or maybe even two months out of commission. Wonder how Linne and Wald's house situation went when the latter decided to leave her for Kuon. Did Kuon and Wald just hole up at the latter's place and just have Linne stay over at Hyde's semi-permanently? It's a slightly overlooked fact but Linne and Wald DID manage to find a place to stay during their couple months in the city before meeting Hyde.
