We developed a technique for the rapid detection of neurodegenerative diseases like Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s
And researched how TikTok can be both haven and hindrance for users struggling with mental health
We developed a biocomputing platform that has the potential to revolutionize medicine and computers
And looked more than 13 billion years into the past to discover a tiny galaxy with big star power
Speaking of stars, our students are among the brightest!
U of M Crookston students won the sweepstakes trophy at the North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture conference
U of M Rochester student Serena Handrick won the 2023 U of M Systemwide Sustainability Student Impact Award
And we were one of just 2 universities in the country to have multiple students selected as Truman Scholars
Our outstanding researchers and programs also continue to radiate success!
3 faculty were awarded prestigious 2023 Guggenheim Fellowships
And 5 faculty were inducted into the renowned National Academies of Practice
The U of M Morris Native American Student Success program won the national Indigenous Student Affairs Network’s Innovative Practice Award
And U of M Duluth’s Viann Nguyen-Feng was part of a $385,000 award to review trauma-informed care practices in health care
We also received more than $1 million to design a model to reduce instances of hospital readmissions
And $2 million to help researchers better study AI-powered news recommender systems
Plus a $10 million grant to help underserved communities access funding for energy and environmental improvement
And we’re just getting started…
