Meanwhile, 2023 continues to be a year of discoveries at the U of M…
Our researchers created a breakthrough spintronics manufacturing process that could revolutionize electronics
And made another breakthrough in antibiotic delivery to combat the ability of bacteria to resist existing antibiotics
We also uncovered a more targeted approach to drug discovery and a potential paradigm shift for new therapeutics
And found clues to aid in the early detection and prevention of Alzheimer’s disease
At U of M Crookston, we celebrated a diverse range of research at a Faculty Research Expertise Showcase
And our students even got in on the research action, conducting crucial genome sequencing of a newly discovered soybean pest
Speaking of our outstanding students…
U of M Rochester students signed up 150+ people for a Be the Match bone marrow donor registry
U of M Morris students released the latest issue of Scholarly Horizons, an undergraduate
And our students had many athletic successes including
The women's and men's Golden Gopher hockey teams advanced to the 2023 NCAA Frozen Four
And U of M Duluth made history by becoming the first school in the NSIC to have both men’s and women's basketball teams in the DII Elite 8
We also celebrated our incredible faculty and staff…
By recognizing high-quality academic advising with the prestigious John Tate Awards
Outstanding faculty with the 2023 Distinguished McKnight University Professorship
And incredible instructors with the 2023 Morse-Alumni and Graduate-Professional Distinguished Teaching Awards
We also were the only U.S. university to participate the 25th anniversary celebration of the Good Friday Agreement in Belfast
And soon we’ll look forward to continuing the celebrations as we host our second annual Juneteenth Celebration in North Minneapolis on June 17
