Global News | Ukraine could be facing “toughest winter” since Russian invasion began: NATO @globalnews | Uploaded October 2024 | Updated October 2024, 1 week ago.
July 2024 was the deadliest month for civilians in Ukraine since October 2022, the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights said on Tuesday.

Speaking in front of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Volker Turk added that his office has recorded “45 per cent more civilian casualties than in the previous three-month period,” mostly due to Russia's large-scale coordinated attack on July 8.

In Brussels, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said that the military alliance “must and will do more” to help Ukraine, and that Ukraine could be “facing its toughest winter” since Russia’s invasion began.

Meanwhile, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said European leaders needed to change the approach towards Ukraine because the current strategy “does not work,” adding that dialogue and a ceasefire were needed to save lives. “We are convinced that you cannot win that war on the battlefield. Simply you cannot, that’s our opinion,” Orban said.
