In this episode of UI5ers live, we look at two things that make maintaining OpenUI5 and SAPUI5 apps a lot easier.
Get ready to learn about the autofix feature in UI5 linter, a helpful addition that makes it easier to follow best practices and move away from outdated OpenUI5 and SAPUI5 APIs. Max Reichmann shows you how autofix works and how it can help refresh your codebase with minimal effort.
Then we explore three community & team tools that each take a different approach to keeping the OpenUI5 / SAPUI5 version in your projects up to date and avoiding surprises when a version reaches end of cloud provisioning (EOCP):
1. Robin van het Hof introduces his build task ui5-task-check-eocp — a local UI5 Tooling custom task that warns you (or fails the build) when your version is about to leave cloud provisioning.
2. Ludwig Stockbauer-Muhr shares his GitHub Action check-outdated-ui5-version — checks manifest.json files on push or on a schedule, and can even auto-fix versions and open a pull request.
3. Florian Vogt demonstrates the UI5 renovate preset config — a Renovate preset from the UI5 team that opens PRs for new patch/minor (and LTS-only) UI5 releases across ui5.yaml and HTML files.
We close with a comparison of all three approaches — which files they touch, where they run, and where a Bitbucket/GitLab or a more generic solution could go next.
