UHN, Canada’s No. 1 hospital system, has been ranked third in the world for the second year in a row by Newsweek magazine.
UHN’s Toronto General Hospital (TGH) is behind only Mayo Clinic and Cleveland Clinic, both in the United States, making it the top publicly-funded hospital in the world. Further, TGH is the only Canadian hospital in the rankings to crack the top 10, as it has for seven years in a row.
UHN’s Princess Margaret Cancer Centre has been ranked Canada’s top specialized oncology hospital and top 10 in the world.
UHN’s Toronto Western Hospital is among the top 10 in Canada for a second straight year.
“These are all amazing achievements, which together firmly establish UHN’s national and international leadership as Canada’s No. 1 hospital, and highlight our influential role as a global leader in health care, in education and in research,” says Dr. Kevin Smith, UHN’s President & CEO.

UHN’s Sprott Department of Surgery, Peter Munk Cardiac Centre and Ajmera Transplant Centre are among the world-leading programs calling TGH home. However, sustaining a world class academic health sciences centre requires the contribution of every program and service, including the Emergency Department, General Internal Medicine, the Joint Department of Medical Imaging, the Laboratory Medicine Program, rehabilitation, research institutes and the Michener Institute of Education at UHN.
