Our 17-year-old female spotted eagle ray, Sadana, gave birth to two female pups earlier this year! Our spotted eagle rays are part of a Species Survival Plan with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA), which aims to rebuild a sustainable population for this species. The pups are doing well and will be relocated to another AZA-accredited facility once they are between 6 and 12 months of age. In the meantime, they will be spending time with our animal care team, learning handfeeding and target training.
