We’re excited to share that two juvenile green sea turtles, Niaouli and Bonsai, were successfully released yesterday after making incredible recoveries at Clearwater Marine Aquarium! 💙🐢🐢 🌊
Niaouli arrived in critical condition with lesions, ulcerations and thin body condition on March 2 after being found in the drop-off box at Seaside Seabird Sanctuary. The turtle was quickly transferred to CMA for evaluation. With intensive care—including antibiotics, steroids, and nutritional support—this little fighter beat the odds and made a full recovery!
Bonsai was discovered out of habitat near a retention pond in Homosassa on May 7, likely displaced by flooding from hurricanes. After a short course of supportive care and monitoring, Bonsai was also cleared for release.
Both turtles were medically cleared by CMA’s vet team and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), and are now back swimming in the wild!
