In today’s video, I’m unboxing and exploring two fascinating decks from Gergely of Midnight Tarot, both purchased by me to work with throughout the month of May.
The first is the fantastic RWS x TdM, Gergely’s innovative hybrid deck that combines the familiar major arcana imagery of RWS with the pip-style minors of TdM. It’s a creative bridge between two reading systems, blending intuitive familiarity with the openness and elegance of Marseille-style reading.
Alongside it, I’ll also be taking a look at the beautifully restored Tarot de Paris, a rare and historically significant 17th-century French tarot deck that predates the standardised Marseille tradition. With its mysterious imagery, archaic symbolism, and wonderfully preserved antique charm, this deck offers a unique glimpse into tarot’s early evolution.
Both decks showcase Gergely’s thoughtful approach to tarot, one through historical restoration, the other through modern tarot innovation, and I’m excited to spend time with both of them during May.
