In today’s video, I’m sharing three easy knitted headbands you can make in just a couple of hours! These are perfect for last-minute gifts, craft fairs, stocking stuffers, or a cozy project for yourself.
You’ll learn how to knit:
-K2P2 rib headband
-K1P1 rib headband (medium width)
-Seed stitch headband with knit borders (wider option)
-Knitted cast on
-Cast off
All headbands are made with bulky yarn, so they knit up super fast. I’ll show you how to measure your headband for a snug but comfortable fit, how to create the twisted finish, and how to seam it neatly.
Whether you’re a beginner or experienced knitter, these headbands are a fun, relaxing project that you can finish in an evening.

3.5" WIDE HEADBAND PATTERN
I used aprox. 53yds for this one. Buy more yarn if you want to make it wider or longer.
Cast on 14 sts with bulky 5 yarn
Each row is *K2P2* ribbing
Knit 20" or the size needed for head size
Cast off
4.5" HEADBAND PATTERN
Cast on 16 sts with bulky 6 yarn
I used aprox. 42 yds. Allow more for wider or longer sizing.
Each row is *K1P1* ribbing
Knit 20" or the size needed for head size
6" SEED ST WITH KNIT BORDERS PATTERN
I used aprox. 53 yds. Allow for more for wider and longer sizing.
Cast on 14 sts with bulky 6 yarn
Row 1: K3 *K1,P1* to last 3 sts, K3
Row 2: K3 *P1,K1* to last 3 sts, K3
Repeat rows 1 and 2 for desired length. I knit 19"
Cast off.
To make the twist:
With the wrong sides of work facing you, bring both sides together forming a taco U Shape at each end and insert one into the other forming a sandwich. Sew across all layers and turn right side out.
