Asphalting in the West Gate Tunnel is underway.
Crews will lay more than 8,000 tonnes of road surface in the 2.8km citybound tunnel that will make inner city trips easier for drivers in Melbourne’s west.
Once finished, the team will then apply line marking before getting started on the outbound tunnel.
This brings us another step closer to opening in late 2025, reducing travel times in Melbourne’s west and keeping trucks off local roads.
