Many years after Fundamentalist Latter Day Saint prophet Warren Jeffs was convicted, cult expert Christine Marie and her videographer husband, Tolga Katas, move into Short Creek, Utah, to support a fractured FLDS community vulnerable to a new “prophet.” They decide to take matters into their own hands when they uncover evidence of unignorable evil from self-proclaimed prophet Samuel Bateman. Documentaries about cults aren’t anything new… but the new 4-part docuseries on Netflix, Trust Me: The False Prophet, certainly puts a whole new twist on the storytelling approach.
