A suspected gunman accused of trying to assassinate Donald Trump at his golf course in Florida wrote a chilling note months earlier stating he intended to kill the former president, a court filing shows.

“Dear World, this was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you,” the letter says.

The note appears to predict a failed assassination attempt, “I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster.”

In Ryan Routh’s letter, he offered to pay $150,000 to anyone who “can complete the job”.
