The Trump administration is ending a subsidy program that helped keep Medicare Part D premiums lower, and millions of seniors could see higher monthly bills when new rates arrive this fall. Nearly half of Part D enrollees are projected to face increases between $11 and $20 a month, on top of rising prescription drug prices and a tax bill expected to cut hundreds of billions from Medicare over the next several years. For people on fixed incomes, that envelope in the mailbox is becoming another reminder that Washington keeps shifting the cost onto the people least able to absorb it.
