Trump’s border wall push has reached Big Bend, where federal construction is cutting through one of America’s most treasured national parks for vehicle barriers, patrol roads, cameras, lights, and sensors in an area local officials say barely sees crossings. DHS waived major environmental protections to speed the project, while residents, conservationists, and Republican officials warn that blasting, bulldozing, and road construction could scar the desert, disturb wildlife, and waste enormous amounts of public money.
