U.S. District Judge Christopher Cooper said that the rebranding of the institution that honors President John F. Kennedy as the Trump Kennedy Center violated the clear language of federal law that requires the building to honor President Kennedy and President Kennedy only. As you may recall, back in December Trump decided to add his name to the Kennedy Center's facade. one day after his handpicked board of trustees voted to rename the facility the Trump Kennedy Center. And I remember my first reaction when I saw these pictures back in December was to not only be stunned that Trump would have the ego to do something like this, but that his own name would come first and be above JFK's.
Trump's reaction to the judge's ruling can only be described as petulant, immature, childish, and simply angry that he was not getting his way. To use an old expression, Trump is taking his ball and going home. A short while ago, he posted a 581word response to this ruling. Now, normally when Trump posts long screeds like this, I don't read them in full, but I am going to do so this time because I think it makes the point of how this is a man who is intent on having his will be done. And as he gains more and more power in the world, that will really matter. So now, here is his full post that I'm going to read, and I'll try not to laugh at times, but I can't promise anything on this one.
