On Truth Social today, Donald Trump pointed out that apparently he and King Charles are distant cousins. This bit of news comes as the King and Queen begin a 4-day state visit to the US and may serve to mend the relations between the two countries.
Trump joked about it on Truth Social, saying, "Wow, that's nice. I always wanted to live in Buckingham Palace. I'll talk to the king and queen about this in a few minutes." But make no mistake about it, he's also very happy to broadcast this kind of news.
The story goes that King Charles and Donald Trump are related by way of a common ancestor and that common ancestor is the third Earl of Lennox that would make Trump and King Charles 15th cousins.
However, while Trump seems to be reveling in the idea that he's connected to royalty, there is also another interesting connection. His lineage now connects him directly to King George III, the monarch who American colonies declared independence from in 1776. This year, of course, being the 250th anniversary of that particular year.
So while Trump celebrates his connection to royalty, it is rather ironic that he is now related to the king that Americans rejected 250 years ago. And of course, all of this plays into the fact that Trump already thinks of himself as a king. So this is just more fodder for how he magnifies himself in his own mind and it just reinforces how Trump already thinks of himself.
