One of my ambitions for 2022 is to be less of an anti-social forest dweller lol, and go back to my roots of what made me fall in love with the outdoors. I remember as a kid in Jr high school we would go on these multi-day backpacking trips through the most amazing trails in Canada. I spent hours flipping through old MEC catalogs daydreaming of the gear I might be able to afford one day. I would read bushcraft books about how to make alcohol stoves from Altoids tins and how to make primitive shelters, I even did a full backpacking trip with just a tarp, sleeping pad, and a sleeping bag.
So I want to broaden my horizons and meet new creators that might otherwise not get a chance to meet because our hobbies tend to take us to different places in the wild. But we all share the same love for those places either way and if you only ever do what you always have done then how can you experience anything new?! This weekend was a blast, I met two great new friends and I got to see the most amazing bushcraft shelter I have ever seen! a 3 story bushcraft shelter, deep in the wild forests of Alberta Canada.
