In this episode we look at another TRS-80 Model 200 laptop. The Model 200 was a descendant of the famous Model 100 but featured a flip up screen for the first time. This computer was sent to me by the owner as it was not wanting to turn on, or if it happened to come on it would not turn off.
Upon inspection a broken trace to the power switch was discovered, the faulty memory battery was replaced, and all the electrolytic capacitors were also replaced. It was nursed back to health and is now on its way back to the owner.
I picked up a few extra NiMh memory batteries direct from the manufacturer and have them up on my website if you are in need of a battery for your Model 100 or 200. These are a direct replacement for the original NiCad batteries.
