South Florida may be well known for its beautiful Beaches and Sunny weather, but it's also a great hotspot for trains! One of the many trains that run in the South Florida Miami area, is the Tri-Rail. Running between Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach, the TriRail is a commuter rail service providing links between these busy metro areas.
TriRail has some real interesting equipment, some with really interesting backgrounds. One example are the original UTDC built cabcars, 501-506. These 6 cabcars were part of the original order for TriRail back in the late 1980's. Originally designed as a temporary commuter service, the cars were built specified for GO Transit in Canada, as they were to be delivered there after the trial run in Miami. Needless to say, the service proved popular in Florida, and so they stayed. Really cool to see these in operation still!
