Triple sea turtle release! 🐢🐢🐢
This Tuesday we were thrilled to release three juvenile, green sea turtles! Two of the turtles, Sassafras and Tolland, came to CMA after being found stranded out of habitat. Tolland was discovered in a ditch near the Steinhatchee River in Dixie County on Dec. 29, likely due to extreme flooding from Hurricane Helene. Sassafras was found washed up in the same county on March 15 and made a quick recovery. The third sea turtle, Waukesha, was affected by cold weather in January. All turtles are now healthy and have been cleared for release by our staff veterinarian and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
