I'd like to spread word of this gorgeous chamber piece by Eric Ewazen. In the world of contemporary classical composers, Ewazen is one rare case I've found that has the same kind of heartfelt, tonally beautiful melodies/harmonies that I would apply to a composer like Aaron Copland. I would also highly highly recommend checking out his other music surrounding brass. His catalog is chock full of it, and it's really great.

This is Eric Ewazens dynamic, wonderful Fantasia for Seven Trumpets, commissioned by the Metropolitan Trumpet Ensemble. This fantastic recording is from the 1999 album “Music for the Soloists of the American Brass Quintet and Friends,” a collaboration recording with some of the best classical trumpeters around the USA.
