They realize the creature does not find them because they don't make noise and that it relies on vibrations to find them. So it’s testing the foundations and seems to be putting together a plan. When the monster gets to Nestor's caravan, it moves so much that he falls to the ground. Panicked, he immediately starts looking for an elevated spot and finds a big wheel on the ground. But it's not high enough perched, and the creature swallows him.
