I thought I knew what to expect from a Backrooms game, but Backrooms: Primal takes things to a completely different level. We wake up trapped alongside our girlfriend Stracy, only to find out this isn't just the standard infinite yellow maze. It turns out the government built a massive black-site inside the Backrooms to hide unidentified hybrid monstrosities and prehistoric beasts, and containment has completely collapsed.
Reality is literally falling apart in this facility. The walls and floors are glitching out, and if that wasn't bad enough, there are actual apex predators hunting us through the carpeted halls. We have to scavenge for artifacts, bypass locked security sectors, and somehow find an extraction point before we get caught by whatever is roaming these corridors.
This one really caught me off guard with how intense it gets. Huge shoutout to Neuroticfly Games and Koniipinka for putting such a wild twist on the liminal space genre.
