I don't think I've ever been this stressed about my temperature gauge in a game before. Today we are diving into the demo for Beneath the Permafrost, an upcoming indie survival horror game that drops you straight into the frozen, post-apocalyptic ruins of Aurburg. The premise is simple but brutal: keep moving, stay warm, and find the legendary Fountain to save your family.
But it turns out the eternal blizzard is the least of our problems. The dead in this city have turned into these terrifying monsters called Husks, and they are constantly hunting us down. Managing my inventory for matches and bullets while desperately trying not to freeze to death—or get cornered by a Husk in the dark—made this one of the most intense playthroughs I've had in a while. Every single resource actually matters.
