Thoroughly enjoyed turning this weeks woodturning project video of a 21x13" oak burr (burl) wall hanging sculptural art piece.
The main turning was done using a large plywood faceplate attached to a 130mm steel faceplate to give the piece as much stability as possible.
After it was flattened down a bit, the rings were put in with a 3/8" bowl gouge before hand sanding and lightly burning the high points of the rings with a small blow torch,
The colour was then applied. I used Ruby, Earth and Burnt Orange from my Intrinsic Colour Collection before overcoating that with danish oil. Finally, a few coats of Hampshire Sheen Microcrystalline Wax was used in the 'Red Centre' to shine it up a bit.
