With the risks of flooding high and rising in coastal areas, the impacts of climate change are of serious concern. Cities are adapting, developing preparedness and resilience approaches. But is the adaptation that we are seeing a process of social inclusion and structural transformation? UNRISD Research Officer Dunja Krause, who leads the project "Transformative Adaptation to Climate Change in Coastal Cities", explains why adaptation needs to consider "vision, values and voices" to translate big ideas into sustainable practices.
