In the past two years Bulgaria becomes the land of the Smartron locomotives. PIMK Rail started the Smartron era in 2019 by ordering 3 units, after which Bulmarket also added 2 pieces to its fleet, but the record holder at the moment is the state operator BDZ-PP with the ordered 15 pieces. Thus, 22 Smartron locomotives are currently operating in Bulgaria. To their family we can add their big brothers - the Vectrons. Currently 4 Vectrons are also operate in Bulgaria - 3 by PIMK Rail and one by Rail Cargo Carrier (hired from ELL).
In the video the brand new locomotives 80 001 & 80 003 directly on arrival took the freight train with which they arrived. A small problem with the battery generator of 80 003 forced the diesel locomotive 07 077 to help for the ascent towards Vakarel station. The great sound of the pushing Ludmilla can be hear in the end of the video.
