0:40 - (Skip Intro)
12/11/14 - A visitor from the south trails on 19G passing through some snow flurries at Richland.
0:40 - 19G - Oak Island, NJ - Bellevue, OH
NS SD70ACe 1056
KCS SD70MAC 3964
NS ES44AC 8028
12/23/14 - A couple of Mexican locomotives are far from home on ethanol loads 64T. This was the only time I have ever caught Ferromex power, which is very rare through here.
2:15 - 64T - Chicago, IL - Philadelphia, PA
NS C44-9W 9909
FXE ES44AC 4668
FXE ES44AC 4657
12/29/14 - Quite a rare mix of locomotives lead ethanol empties 65K through the Ramona Road crossing at the 81 signal. Two warbonnets led by an ex-CR SD80MAC with a CN unit for good measure.
3:20 - 65K - Seawaren, NJ - Chicago, IL
NS SD80MAC 7204
BNSF SD75M 231
BNSF C44-9W 784
CN ES44AC 2554
12/31/14 - Another rare visitor leads 38G east through Royersford, past the 32-1W searchlight signal. There are not many SD60's left on Union Pacific's roster, let alone roaming around on foreign rails.
4:30 - 38Q - Allentown, PA - Camden, NJ
UP SD60 2217
NS C40-9 8804
That afternoon, 63X passes the station at Pottstown, running opposite main between PHOENIX and BIRD to duck onto the "Turkey Path" at Birdsboro, where the cars are returning for a fill at the H&K quarry.
5:45 - 63X - Winslow Junction, NJ - Birdsboro, PA
NS C44-9W 9163
NS SD60E 6902
1/2/15 - 34A has finished making its set off and pick up on the north side at Hershey, seen starting west again past the remnants of the original Hershey Chocolate factory. While the majority of the plant has been demolished, the cocoa bean silos and power house and smoke stacks will remain standing as historic artifacts to the company's rich past. This train boasts eight locomotive in the consist, with some foreign visitors.
7:10 - 34A - Allentown, PA - Baltimore, MD (via Enola Yard)
NS SD70 2560
UP ES44AC 7513
NS C44-9W 9861
KCS ES44AC 4840
NS SD70ACe 1023
NS C44-9W 9934
NS C44-9W 9684
NS C40-8W 8359
1/10/15 - 211 heads west up the hill at Robesonia in the last light of the afternoon. BNSF retired many of their ex-BN SD60M's. NS purchased a few of these "triclops", nick-named for the three window notches in the cab. Though they are absolute junk, it was neat to see one leading (that surprisingly did not break down) with the low headlights and K3 horn, both of which are artifacts not commonly seen nor heard on Norfolk Southern locomotives.
9:15 - 211 - Croxton, NJ (Saturday) - Atlanta, GA
NS SD60M 6814
NS SD60 6592
1/15/15 - Baretables head east through Robesonia with a pair of ex-CR SD60M's. No active former Conrail locomotives retained their blue paint past 2013, but the Leslie RS3L horns are always a dead giveaway of the heritage.
10:40 - 20A - Atlanta, GA - Croxton, NJ
NS SD60M 6766
NS SD60M 6794
1/16/15 - A long and heavy 34A works hard to get out of the valley at Sinking Spring. The lead unit is nicknamed the "Barcode Unit" by many railfans due to the short spacing of the one's on the side of the cab (notice someone swiped their finger diagonally creating the illusion of the number five in tally marks). An entire empty welded rail train brings up the rear, probably bound for loading in Steelton. Check out the green Norfolk & Western boxcar on the rear.
11:55 - 34A - Allentown, PA - Baltimore, MD (via Enola Yard)
NS SD70ACe 1111
NS SD70ACe 1052
NS SD70 2556
CEFX AC4400CW 1042
1/30/15 - Well, what is winter without snow? 211 heads west through the 4-way intersection in the middle of Richland kicking up small amounts of fresh powder. The UP SD60M was facing west set to lead the train, but I imagine it was dead (and a piece of junk) so the power was spun so 2642 would lead, note the Leslie RS5T horn.
14:15 - 211 - Croxton, NJ (Saturday) - Atlanta, GA
NS SD70M 2642
NS C44-9W 9099
UP SD60M 2284
Later that afternoon 19G rounds to bend at Lincoln Avenue in Lebanon with quite a colorful consist of locomotives, including two Heritage Units, the Central of New Jersey and the Delaware Lackawanna & Western, with a Canadian Pacific GEVO thrown in for good measure.
15:30 - 19G - Oak Island, NJ - Bellevue, OH
NS SD70 2515
NS SD70ACe 1071
NS SD70ACe 1074
CP ES44AC 8811
2/11/15 - More foreign power shows up on 34A, this time a CSX and UP GE pair lead NS locomotives, passing the former Reading Depot at Swatara, with the recently restored mill (now restaurant) across the tracks.
17:15 - 34A - Allentown, PA - Baltimore, MD (via Enola Yard)
CSX AC4400CW 5112

![High Hood on the Selinsgrove Industrial Track [4K]
On June 25, 2018, an odd occurrence allowed us to chase a train on some rare and endangered mileage. K21 departs south out of Northumberland with cars for Herndon Reload; however, they have the added task of rescuing an engine and car off of the Selinsgrove IT—a job normally done at night, which apparently had a minor derailment at the mill in Kreamer on their last run. NS GP38-2 5004 will head down light to the end of the line at Kreamer. The P5 horn on the long hood is so clogged and out of tune that only the #4 chime seems to be sounding. While this isnt the most thrilling video in terms of train action, this is, as far as I know, this is the only existing video documenting this line to date on YouTube, and may be the last time anyone films a train here.

We first catch the whole train heading south on the Buffalo Line through Sunbury passing the endangered PRR Position Lights at SF on its way to Selinsgrove Junction. After uncoupling from their train on the Susquehanna River bridge, 5004 proceeds by itself down the branch toward the end of the line, first passing depot in Selinsgrove. We then set up by the lumber plant east of Kreamer, then shot 5004 in the middle of town. The mill was busy with trucks so we were not able to get a shot there (not to mention incredibly back lit). The train then heads back east through Kreamer with a much better sounding P5 horn on the the forward hood.
The Selinsgrove Industrial Track was formerly part of the Pennsylvania Railroads Selinsgrove-Lewistown Line, severed in 1956 between Maitland and Kreamer, the eastern portion, along with the the lead to the power plant in Shamokin Dam, are the last few remaining rails in Snyder County, Pennsylvania. The power plant is no longer served by rail after the coal-fired generators were retired for new natural gas ones built adjacent to the old plant. With a feed mill in Kreamer, as well as another mill just east of there, keeping this short stretch of rails polished, it is very likely that someday soon this line will be abandoned and ripped up, leaving another county in Pennsylvania without any trace of railroad activity (there are currently three: Fulton, Clarion, and Forest). With slow speeds and an expensive river crossing to maintain over the Susquehanna River, Norfolk Southern has been pushing to move the service to the eastern shore to their facility in Herndon. Whether it be politics, logistics, or a strong storm or flood wiping out the river crossing, time will tell just how long these few miles of rails will last.
