York is one of, if not the largest station on the ECML between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh. It is an area steeped in railway history, home to the National Railway Museum, York Railcam, and York ROC which controls the entirety of the East Coast Main Line and many other subsidiary branches. It is the meeting point of the main line with the line from Manchester, Leeds, Selby/Hull and Scarborough.
I spent a little over an hour here and was glad to catch pretty much the full variety here - LNER Class 800s and 801s, Grand Central Class 180s, Transpennine Express Class 68s, 802s and 185s, CrossCountry 220s and 221s, as well as Northern Class 155s, 170s and 195s (if I've missed anything featured in this video let me know!)
Despite passing through York many times, this was my first dedicated visit to the station since spring 2019 (back when HSTs were around!) and so much has changed here. I elected to film on platforms 10/11 where it was possible to get almost 100% of the variety that comes through here (with the exception of the Leeds via Harrogate services.)
It goes without saying that York is highly recommended for a visit in its own right and is definitely worth visiting at some point if you haven't already.
