It’s been a long Journey. Over the past six months, I’ve managed to play through all 9 titles in the Trails series, and if you ask me, it’s been worth every second. Trails of Cold Steel 4 is the latest in this amazing series, and finally concludes the Erebonian Arc.
The game is scheduled for release on the PS4 in just a few days (oct 27th), and sometime next year on Switch and PC. In case you’re wondering; Yes. There is a massive Requirement to play the first 3 Cold Steel games first.
This review is going to be as spoiler free as possible, with the footage coming from both the official promotional trailers, and also from first 10 or so hours of gameplay. I would also like to thank NIS America for providing me with a review code for this incredible game.

No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch! Looking in from a distance, there isn’t too much here that align with my tastes. Between the childish, cutesy characters, and the odd sounding name, which translates The Country of Two: The Wrath of the White Witch, I would have quite easy passed on this way back in, 2013. But, you know, the general hype that this game received made it pretty hard to ignore. This is largely due to the collaboration with Studio Ghibli; the guys who made Princess Mononoki, Spirited away and all those other masterpieces. It really didn’t take me long to see that the quality of their films carried over to this game. Ni No Kuni did not spare any expense. It is a beautiful, huge game and one of the best JRPGs released in in the 2010s.
If you missed this classic in 2013, it was recently remastered for the PS4 and PC, and ported to the Switch, so there are no excuses not to check this one out!

Sea of Stars! Ever since its highly successful Kickstarter campaign back in 2020, the hype for this gorgeous retro style RPG has been huge! Sea of Stars, developed by Sabotage Studio, is set 1000 years before their debut game, the Messenger, which was a very well received action-platformer released in 2018.
Long story short, Sea of Stars is sensational, and I know it sounds cliché, but it really is a love letter to SNES era JRPGs, with clear inspirations from games like Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG and Lufia.
If you’re a fan of these classic experiences, then playing Sea of Stars should be a no brainer. Watch this review to find out why!

Hello everyone! Last time, we looked into the best JRPGs released in 90s, but that was SO last week!
Today, we’re jumping into the top JRPGs from the 2000s!
This decade saw some pretty dark times, there’s no denying that, but there were, at least, some positives here. It was a decade with some pretty amazing JRPGs. After the powerhouse era that was the 90s, how did the 2000s hold up for the genre? Did it continue strong, or fall short compared to what many consider the ‘golden age’ of JRPGs.
This video will follow the same format, with the same rules, as my previous videos of the 90s. I’ll be choosing one single JRPG for each year, and the release dates will be when they were first released in Japan.

Back in 1994, square released a little RPG on the Super Famicom called Live-a-Live. On release, it was met with disappointing sales, when compared to the Final Fantasy series. And that was it, Live-a-Live remained in Japan, never to officially venture out to the rest of the world.
Until 2022 that is! Where Live-a-Live was finally remade in that pretty HD2D style that we all love! This game is a very different kind of RPG. It’s basically a collection of completely unrelated, short stories, that are each lovable in their own way. For those of you who are fans of 16bit era RPGs, and want to experience something fresh, than Live-a-Live is definitely worth a look.

It takes something special, something different, about an Indi JRPG to get me excited. Crazy visuals, some sort of unique mechanic, or even just a trailer that screams my name. For Flowstone Saga, it’s the combat mechanics!
Flowstone saga is exactly what you would get if you crossed a quality, 16-bit, retro-JRPG, with the worlds best selling video game, Tetris.
I’ve never really been a Tetris fan. But now, I’m a tetris fan. Actually, I’m a Flowstone Saga fan, and a HUGE one at that.
If there’s anything about this game that looks like it may interest you, give it a go. Whether you’re a Tetris fan or not, it doesn’t matter. Flowstone Saga is an excellent JRPG and it should not be missed. I would even place it at the level of other recent Indi JRPGs Chained Echoes and Sea of Stars!

Vampire: The Masquerade Swansong is part of a series that I’ve been interested in for a long time. This series started out as a tabletop RPG in 1991 as part of the World of Darkness setting line. Nearly a decade later, the series was first adapted into the world of video games, with Vampire: The Masquerade – Redemption being met with mixed reviews. But it wasn’t until 2004s Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, that I was first introduced to the series. It was an absolute technical disaster, but despite this, it had a lot going for it, and I’ve been a fan even since. The dark, mature atmosphere, and the vampire politics drew me in, and I’ve been longing for a similar experience ever since.
Vampire: The Masquerade Swansong, is not the game that was going to quench my thirst for more blood, but it did at least scratch an itch. Swansong is a different beast all together. Where Bloodlines is all about roaming the city at night, feeding on the unsuspecting, and destroying everything that stands in your way, Swansong, is more about learning about the rich world, solving puzzles, and uncovering a local mystery.
