At the 2026 Large Cars & Guitars Truck Show, Chris caught up with Jason Keaton and his son JT from Princeton, West Virginia, to check out their awesome 1979 GMC Brigadier tow truck.
This old GMC is powered by a 6-71 Detroit Diesel backed by a 10-speed Road Ranger, and it still has that unmistakable two-stroke Detroit sound. Originally picked up in 2012 by Jason’s dad, the truck was brought back to life with new lights, chrome stacks, mechanical work, and a gooseneck hitch so the family could haul their collection of old tractors.
Behind the truck is JT’s 1943 John Deere Model A, complete with its unique horizontal two-cylinder engine. Together, the truck and tractor make a perfect old-school combination — and the family has fittingly named the GMC “Towing Toy.”
