Tow Rope for Short Hauls - Dirty Tow Rope - Tow Rope for Manoeuvring Objects.
If you are wanting a tow rope for towing heavy objects over short distances then this could be the right tow rope for you. Be aware that this tow rope is designed for short pulls and in areas where you may be required to do a lot of manoeuvring.
This tow rope is mentioned in Ashley Book of Knots number 160. It was devised by Captain Daniel F Mullins, needed some form of tow rope for dragging heavy diesel engines or other heavy objects on rollers about the wharf. The advantage of this particular tow rope, is that once the weight is removed, the rope can be readjusted quickly and easily for the next pull.
If you want to give your tow rope some additional security, then you could also tie a bowline after the two hitches.
