While it's not the traditional “Stage 4 difficulty spike” (trust me, this game still has room to get harder), Stage 3 is no slouch. Enemy bullets start getting really dense and long lasting, where honestly a Wonder Stone spawning at the right time can honestly make or break the difficulty of sections. The back half you'll also have to really watch out for, cause you've got these “damned if you do, damned if you don't” spirits that drop some nasty revenge bullets. Something you really don't see that often by Stage 3 (if at all in Normal Mode for a lot of games)
Michigan similarly, is pretty damn nasty. Her non-spells are fairly direct, though expect you to be in pretty tight spaces. But her spell cards are something else for this early in the game (reminds me a lot of when I fought Doremy). Tight spaces in almost all spells, as well as expecting you to deal with a lot of attacks coming at you from different angles. Fittingly, I'd say an overall theme of her fight is just a collapsing trap of bullets all around you.
