At least 15 people were injured as a tornado touched down Friday afternoon in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, officials confirmed.

The reported tornado touched down around 1:30 p.m. as the remnants of Hurricane Helene plowed through North Carolina.

Widespread damage was reported near Tiffany Boulevard, Benvenue Road and the Golden East Crossing shopping mall, Nash County officials confirmed.

Video from the scene shows collapsed roofs and cars piled up and destroyed.
