We have arrived in Langkawi, Malaysia and immediately spent 2 full days trying out all the top things to do in Malaysia's most popular beach town. A visit to Langkawi is every list of the best things to do in Malaysia, so we wasted no time getting to this beach paradise after exploring Kuala Lumpur. We'd heard that if you want the beaches of Thailand without the crowds, you should go to Langkawi, Malaysia, and we were certainly impressed with what an incredible holiday destination Langkawi is.
There are are lot of great activities to do in Langkawi, and we jam packed a couple of days to do as many of them as we could. Our first stop was the most iconic in Langkawi, which is the Langkawi Sky Bridge and SkyCab. This adventure is not for anyone who is afraid of heights, and you'll want to do your best to plan for the weather, but if you get lucky like we did you'll have amazing views!
We chose to rent a scooter to get around Langkawi which allowed us to visit Temurun Waterfall, which is a rarely visited waterfall. It wasn't exactly what we expected, but it was a beautiful spot that we would easily visit again. Then it was time to finally dip our toes in the Strait of Malacca via Sandy Skulls Beach. We never did find out why it's called Sandy Skulls beach, but we didn't find anything deadly during out visit :p
We ended day 1 with a sunset at Pantai Cenang Beach. Pantai Cenang is the area where most people stay during their time in Langkawi, and the beach here is a place where you could easily spend an entire holiday.
Our favourite Langkawi activity came on day 2. We booked a kayaking tour through the Mangroves of the Kilim Geoforest Park, and boy did this tour deliver! We have always been fascinated with mangroves, and having the opportunity to maneuver ourselves through them as we watched eagles soar above us was something out of a storybook.
