Parody, as an art form is protected under the first amendment.
This parody of The Carpenters, "Top Of The World," came from the same Seattle based mind that gave us, "Walking' Round In Women's Underwear" and "The Rest room Door said Gentlemen," as well as a couple hundred more over his 25 year career. Mr. Bob Rivers.

Parody advertising has been around since just after the dawn of radio advertising on WEAF in 1922.
A parody ad sounds like a real advertisement, it follows the same format and usually includes a hook such as, "But Wait! There's More" or "The Next twenty million callers get this special bonus..."
On Oddballvq the parody adverting is all my original material, I write the scripts, choose the background music and do the voice overs.
Believe it or not, three of my ads have been aired on Dr. Demento starting with my collaboration Daniel Felonski {Fe as in Felix, Lon as in Lon Chani and Ski as in Tchaikovsky Fe-lon-ski} with the "New Unbelievable Glass Breaker, Wire stripper and Door Knob Polisher."
Our next project was a parody OF a parody. Schudwiller Beer. Schudwiller beer was a parody of a series of Budweiser beer commercials featuring Oregon State Trooper, Dick Curtis who's tag line was, Well Now!"
Our parody was not about beer but about moving the smoking, stinking, environmentally unsafe Volcano, Mt. Saint Hellens, out of Washington.
This channel was shut down after Maria wiped out my home on Puerto Rico and I could not reply to requests to monatize or remove content.
At that point I was getting forty two THOUSAND minutes of viewing time a DAY! I rebuilt but I did not take any chances.
Now that YouTube has figured out a way to block so called copyrighted content before it is published you can look for the VQ to once more come alive.

KLOD Radio is a parody of the AM radio stations I listened to while growing up in the PNW. Before you ask why didn't I listen to FM the answer is, IT DID NOT EXIST YET!
Here you will find spoken word, novelty music, cartoon music, parody advertising, humor and some original work all inside the framework of an AM radio station circa 1965.
One segment of KLOD Radio is, "Then And Now." which is based on a simple idea.
Start with a hit song performed by the original artist and about half way through the song shifts to the same song, same artist on about the same note but at least 35 years later. 35 years is the minimum. I prefer to have the time between, "Then," and "Now" to be fifty (50) years.
No, I am not a restaurant in Portland, Oregon. I was living in Portland when I sold my first, "Nursery Crime," starring Veritable Quandary and a short time later the restaurant opened their doors.
