Sometimes being in the right place at the right time can make all the difference. In October 2023, the top officer of the U.S. Marine Corps, Gen. Eric Smith, collapsed in cardiac arrest while out for a run. This is an incredible story of how a good Samaritan’s quick action and our team of doctors, nurses, and scores of other caregivers at MedStar Washington Hospital Center all helped to save the life of the Commandant of the Marine Corps.
