Hybrid Base:
The Hybrid Base system consists of 4-6 inches of typical dense graded base and features 1 inch of clean washed gravel as bedding material.
The base material (dense graded gravel) is still vulnerable to freeze-thaw expansion and settling. However, the clean washed gravel bedding allows for installation in varying weather conditions.
Open Graded Base:
This approach involves 6–10 inches of clear washed and crushed base material, paired with 1 to 1.5 inches of clear crushed bedding.
