Note: the voltmeter used should have an adequate frequency range and the signal generator should be able to put out the same amplitude at the different test frequencies.
Tone controls are tested throughout their range using an AC voltmeter. The output is measured at both extremes of the bass and treble controls: a total of four times. Once at maximum attenuation, and then at maximum boost for the bass. Then maximum attenuation for the treble; then at maximum boost for the treble. Only one channel was tested.
