This is an EXQUISITE Tom Lacy handmade flute. Tom Lacy is a well known custom flutemaker whose ourput is very small - I am unaware of any other platinum flutes he has made.
I've been able to piece together an interesting story about this flute. It appears that it was stolen from the shop of a well known purveyor of fine flutes, who reported it to insurance and was paid for it. The thief then apparently tried to sell the flute back TO THE VERY SAME SHOP who was able to help the police apprehend said thief. As insurance had already paid off, it was turned over to the insurance company, from whom I purchased it. Title is now free and clear and this instrument is ready to be enjoyed.
This flute is magnificent. It is solid platinum construction (.010 wall thickness) with solid silver and ribs, 10k white gold lip plate (and riser, I think), soldered tone holes, offset G, split E mechanism and B foot.
This instrument is in amazing confition. It has been serviced in our shop and our technician reports that it is the easiest playing, most responsive flute he has ever seen. This instrument has an extreme dynamic range from almost inaudible softs to room-filling louds. It plays very responsively and is a magnificent instrument for the serious player.
