Hey everyone! Happy Easter!! Day 11 of the Knit-A-Thon we have an adorable aviator hat for toddlers. All these measurements and placements were just guesses so I hope they actually work. I don't know a young child to test these out one. Hope you guys like.

Items:
Clover Bamboo 16" Circular Needle size 5 (3.75mm)
Random 4ply yarn about 5oz (wool blend)
Buttons
Scissors
Sewing Needle & Thread
Tapestry Needle

Size:
6-9 Months

Measurements:
18" around
7.5" tall

Gauge:
20 sts and 24 rows = 4" in st st.

Instructions:

Earflap:
(worked in garter stitch; knit every row)
Cast on 6 sts
Mark this row as the front. We will use this later on.
Row 1: Knit
Row 2: *K1f&b, K to last st, K1f&b
Repeat Rows 1 & 2 until you have 12 sts.

Work garter stitch until your piece measures 3".


Front Flap:
Cast on 21 sts
Work garter stitch for 2 1/4".

Repeat Steps for 2nd earflap as you did the 1st.

Now cast on 23 sts, I used the invisible cast on but you can use whatever knit on cast on method you like.

Knit across your 12 earflap stitches. Cast on 2 sts. Knit across your 21 front flap stitches. Cast on 2 sts. Knit across your 12 earflap stitches. Cast on 23 sts. - 95 sts

Work stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row) for 6.25" from newly cast on edge.

Decrease: (10sts every other row)
Row 1: *SSK, K15, K2tog; rep from * around - 85 sts
Row 2 and every other row: Purl
Row 3: *SSK, K13, K2tog; rep from * around - 75 sts
Row 5: *SSK, K11, K2tog; rep from * around - 65 sts
Row 7: *SSK, K9, K2tog; rep from * around - 55 sts
Row 9: *SSK, K7, K2tog; rep from * around - 45 sts
Row 11: *SSK, K5, K2tog; rep from * around - 35 sts
Row 13: *SSK, K3, K2tog; rep from * around - 25 sts
Row 15: *SSK, K1, K2tog; rep from * around - 15 sts
Row 17: *K2tog; rep from * around - 8 sts

Cut yarn and finish off.

Sew on your decorative buttons and weave in any other yarn still around.
