The Supreme Court handed President Donald Trump a legal victory on mail-in voting, lifting a key hurdle to his executive order just 70 days before the midterm elections — a decision that is already drawing sharp reactions from both parties.
In a 6-3 ruling, the court said the states that previously sued to block Trump's mail-in ballot executive order lacked standing when they filed their lawsuits, allowing the order to move forward for now.
"Without concrete harm, there is no standing," the conservative justices wrote.
Dolly Parton, the legendary country music star whose work influenced generations of artists, has died at age 80, her nephew Bryan Seaver announced Tuesday on social media.
Seaver did not immediately share a cause of death.
But according to reporting from CNN, Parton's publicist Marcel Pariseau said her death followed "a brief battle with cancer."
And the Canadian government announced that it will match "dollar for dollar" tariffs, with rates of up to 50%, as a direct response to tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump last week on Canadian imports, while the White House contended that Trump is “ending Canada’s free ride.”
The tariffs from Canada are expected to hit more than $27 billion in goods starting Sept. 8th.
