~TO CATCH A MERMAID~
We are in a lifeboat. There are holes in the bottom. Water is gushing in. We have the tools to plug the holes but people on the boat can't seem to organize themselves to fix it. The children are crying for us to save them.
This is the situation we find ourselves in on Planet Earth.
We are at a tipping point... and if we can't find balance with our biosphere, it's game over for all of us.
The symbol of the mermaid is a visual icon for humans meeting nature halfway, to create a more symbiotic and harmonious relationship with our environment.
Throughout history, humans have captured things… hoarding both beauty and beast, putting things in cages for their own viewing pleasure, and taming them for use in commercial enterprise.
With the beautiful short film ‘To Catch A Mermaid’, we explore the polarity of human impulses to either own and exploit other creatures, or to befriend and care for other beings with respect.
~
A fisherman discovers a unique, beguiling, and wild sea creature on the beach, and his first instinct is to capture her and steal her away. While she escapes before we know what he plans to do with her, the implication is clear; Nothing good!
Finding her mermaid tail transformed into legs, she staggers through the dry desert, searching for her watery home… finally collapsing into the dust.
Another man approaches, but this human wants to be of service and care for her. Pouring the water of life onto her dry skin, he transforms her back to mermaid form and carries her home.
She rewards him with the Crystal Heart of the Ocean.
~
Humans are learning to be a support system, rather than acting like a virus in the ecosystem of planet Earth.
As we are bombarded in these difficult times with scary environmental statistics, corrupt politics, and personal challenges, keep your vision of the future positive. Imagine the best possible outcome, put your energy into action, and make choices in harmony with the planet.

Filmed over 2 days, from the ocean to the desert, this talented pod pooled their creative talent to create this discovery of compassion, and a plea for balance.
