In this video, I build an add-on RAM/ROM/VIDEO/IDE/MULTIMODULE board to go along with a TM990/101MA single board computer that I bought on eBay. The TM990 uses the TMS9900 CPU, a 16-bit CPU that was popular in the Texas Instruments TI-99/4A computer. This is a fairly unique 16-bit CPU, with a few features that seem kinda minicomputer-like. I demonstrate is running BASIC, running Forth, and using a couple of multimodule boards that implement speech synthesis and music. The IDE interface allows basic and forth programs to be saved to and from compactflash. The HDMI output uses a Tang Nano that emulates TMS9918 and similar video display processors.
