The 7th Edition of the annual Kerala Literature Festival is arguably the largest festival of its kind in Asia. Matching that status and featured at the festival were five of the top Carnatic musicians of our times, TM Krishna on vocals, Vidhwan Vikku Vinayakram on ghatam, Akkarai Subhalakshmi on violin, Praveen Sparsh on mridangam and Swaminathan Selvaganesh on kanjira.
They performed on the opening day of the festival, kickstarting the recital with a shloka composed by Vikku Vinayakram and sung by Swaminathan. This segued into a composition in Ragam Gowrimanohari called "Guruleka Etuvanti" by Thyagaraja and sung by Krishna. This set the mood and atmosphere for the rest of the concert, with a high level of musicianship displayed to the 3,000-strong audience who showed their appreciation and excitement throughout the performance.
The event was curated and produced by First Edition Arts in collaboration with the Kerala Literature Festival and supported by HSBC, Mahindra Finance and Hindustan Petroleum.
