Lakshmipriya next piece was an Ashtapadi in Ragam Bageshri. Aṣhṭapadis, like Tiruppugaz also do not have original tunes and have been set to tune later by various musicians. In Bhajana Sampradaya, there is a tradition of singing Aṣhṭapadis. This particular Aṣhṭapadi "Hari Hari Hatādaratayā", was taught by Sri B V Raman & Sri B V Lakshmanan to my maternal aunts, Mambalam Sisters. It is said that B V Lakshmanan learnt this composition from the traditional musicians of North India while he was working at the University of Delhi and the rāgas handled in this tradition are different from the rāgas of other oral traditions. Only in this particular tradition, this Aṣṭapadi is sung in the Rāga Bhāgēśri.
